Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
1. Who we are
ProofPup is a social proof widget service operated by an individual developer ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using ProofPup at proofpup.app, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. What ProofPup does
ProofPup is a widget service that reads order data from your connected payment platform and displays real purchase notifications on your website to help build social proof and increase conversions. ProofPup currently supports:
- Polar - via OAuth2 authorization with read-only access to your Polar account
- Polar checkouts, subscriptions, and one-time purchases for software creators and developers
3. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and the OAuth2 connection you authorize. You must not share your account credentials with others.
You must be at least 18 years old to use ProofPup. By using the service you confirm that you meet this requirement.
4. Polar
ProofPup integrates with Polar via OAuth2 to receive your order and subscription events. By connecting your Polar account you acknowledge:
- ProofPup is an independent third-party tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a product of Polar, Inc.
- You are responsible for ensuring that your use of ProofPup complies with Polar's own Terms of Service and platform terms.
- ProofPup connects via Polar OAuth2 with read-only scopes and registers a webhook on your account to receive purchase and subscription events in real-time. We do not initiate payments, issue refunds, or modify any data in your Polar account.
- We store the last 50 purchase events per connected site. Older events are deleted automatically.
- If Polar changes or discontinues its APIs or webhook system, ProofPup may be affected. We will make reasonable efforts to adapt but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.
- You are responsible for ensuring that displaying your customers' purchase information (name, country, product, amount) in a public notification widget complies with your own obligations to those customers, including any applicable privacy laws.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use ProofPup to:
- Display false, fabricated, or misleading purchase notifications
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Infringe the intellectual property rights of others
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract data from ProofPup's systems
- Use the service in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it
- Resell or sublicense access to the service without written permission
The core purpose of ProofPup is to display real purchase activity from your connected store. Using it to fabricate or inflate social proof is prohibited and may result in immediate account termination.
6. Payment and billing
ProofPup is a paid service billed monthly. Plans differ by the number of active sites you can connect. By subscribing you agree to pay the applicable fees for your chosen plan.
- A 7-day free trial is available on the Starter plan. No credit card is required to start the trial. Billing begins automatically at the end of the trial period unless you cancel beforehand.
- Fees are charged monthly in advance.
- All prices are in EUR unless stated otherwise.
- You may cancel at any time. Access continues until the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time.
- We reserve the right to change pricing with at least 30 days' notice to active subscribers.
- Failed payments may result in service suspension.
7. Data and OAuth2 connection
When you connect your Polar account via OAuth2, you grant ProofPup read-only access to your order and subscription events for the sole purpose of powering your widget. Specifically:
- We store your Polar OAuth2 credentials (access and refresh tokens) encrypted at rest.
- We register a webhook on your Polar account to receive purchase and subscription events in real-time.
- We store the last 50 purchase events per site. Older events are deleted automatically.
- We use your order data only to generate widget notifications for your site.
- We do not share your order data with third parties.
- You can revoke access at any time by disconnecting your account in ProofPup or by revoking the OAuth2 authorization in your Polar dashboard.
- Upon account deletion, your OAuth2 credentials are revoked immediately and your data is deleted within 30 days.
8. Intellectual property
ProofPup and its content, features, and functionality are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of your own data. By using the service you grant us a limited licence to process your data solely to provide the service.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
ProofPup is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific conversion outcomes will result from using the widget. Use the service at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ProofPup shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data arising out of your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we are required to do so by law. You may terminate your account at any time from your dashboard. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of prepaid fees.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the member state in which the operator is based, without regard to conflict of law principles. For users in the United States, disputes shall be resolved by binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
